Hybrid Theory Teaser
Excerpt:
Instead of leaving, he stopped at the end of the bed, looking like some kind of god, glowing in the golden hour light of the late evening. Shards of sunlight hit his skin, emphasizing the golden tan and making the still damp strands of his hair glisten. I couldn’t do anything but lay there as his eyes swept over me from head to toe.
His heartbeat was picking up. I could hear it thumping clearly through the silent room. I recognized the look in his eyes immediately. It was heat. It was want.
“I’m going to make you relax then,” he said, coming closer. Knee on the mattress, he bent, bracing himself as he crawled up my body, his long hair brushing against my bare thighs. “We’ve danced around this for a long time.”
“What are you doing?” My voice was shaky. Clearing my throat, I said it louder since he wasn’t listening. “August, what are you doing?”
“Helping you,” he purred. “I thought that was clear.”
He kept his weight off of me, but crawled right over the top, hovering until our faces were inches apart. I could feel his breath on my lips, and if I bent my neck just slightly, ours would meet. I could still remember the way he tasted that day in this very room. God, it felt like it was just yesterday he’d had me pinned on this bed.
“Now?” I asked, bewildered. “I don’t think…”
“That’s right,” he said, cutting me off before I could try to talk him out of whatever he was planning. “Don’t think. Not right now. I want you pliable.”
“This isn’t exactly helping.” I wondered if he could feel the rapid thumping of my heart. From the bold, uninhibited look on his face, I assumed he could.
“I’m your mate,” he said with a low growl. Reaching up with his right arm, he ran his hand through my loose hair, raking his nails along my scalp. Closing my eyes against the sensation, I tried to suppress a groan. “I’m supposed to bring you peace.” His eyes flared brighter. “But I can bring you more than that, Serenity. I can bring you peace, pleasure, bliss…”
The longer he spoke, the lower his voice pitched. I had no idea what sort of bond had already formed between us, but there was definitely something there. It was an awareness inside of me that felt like another person. It was like I could feel August around me, his presence, his energy and his consciousness. It tickled at the back of my mind like an itch I couldn’t scratch.
But the feeling wasn’t a bad one, or one I wanted to shy away from. The truth was, I trusted August. God help me, but I did. He still scared me half to death, and he infuriated me like no other… well, maybe not more than Faust did. This was new to me, but I wasn’t about to shy away from the things that brought me even a sliver of peace.
“Can you make me forget?” I asked. I held his bright eyes as he searched my face, for what, I had no idea.
“No,” he said without missing a beat. My heart plummeted, but he added, “but I can make it not hurt as much right now.” His palm cupped the back of my head, and his fingers gripped my hair, causing my scalp to sting.
“Okay,” I whispered.
His nostrils flared, and he breathed in deeply. I felt him growing in his sweatpants. He hardened against my thigh, making me shiver with anticipation. I knew he could smell my arousal. Even I could smell the sickly sweet scent of my own need. This wasn’t the right time, but I was pretty sure decorum flew out the window the day I was kidnapped. Facts were, this world kind of sucked sometimes, and I knew I was going to squeeze out every sliver and morsel of pleasure while I still had breath left in me.
With my permission, he sealed his lips to mine, parting them with his hot tongue. I opened immediately, welcoming the invasion. I nipped at his bottom lip, causing him to groan into my mouth. Then his hips lowered, applying pressure as he ground his hardness against me. If my hands weren’t bound, I’d be clawing at his back right now.
The only thing that separated me from his cock was his cotton pants and my thong. Just two slivers of flimsy fabric, and it allowed me to feel everything. Our kiss deepened, and his scent invaded my entire being. Fingers sifted through my hair, pulling harder as the tension grew between us.
I could feel something inside of me waking up, but this was familiar. My fangs throbbed, and the skin around my eyes tightened as I felt my eyes change to crimson and black. Turning my head, I forced our lips apart, closing my eyes as he thrust against me.
Fingers pinched my chin and August forced me to face him again. “Show me,” he commanded. Keeping my face in his grip, he peered into my black stare deeply.
Feeling my teeth aching against my lips, I bit down hard to keep myself in check. Sometimes I needed a little bit of pain to get my head on straight. There was a prick of pain followed by a throb as I pierced my own lip, and a trickle of blood ran down my chin.
His eyes flared even brighter until they were nearly glowing. I felt sharp pricks against my chin, and I knew his claws had shifted. His wolf was close to the surface, I could feel it. I could smell that primal, masculine need all around me, and it made something inside of me restless.
“If you keep looking at me like that, I’ll not be responsible for what happens when my wolf takes over,” he promised with a rough growl. “He wants to take this pretty cunt and own it. Is that what you need? Tell me and I’ll bury myself so deep you’ll feel me in your fucking soul. Drain me dry if you have to, but I won’t stop until I’ve taken what I want. I’ve been waiting for this for too goddamn long, and if I have to wait one more minute I’ll tear this house to rubble.”
